As for being pooh pooh’d by a learned friend, I was minding my own business in a robing room on Friday when I was upbraided by an elderly and genuinely outraged silk who I didn’t know for being so common as to dunk my biscuit in my tea. I carried on regardless, and ten minutes later we seemed to have reached some sort of truce and, dare I say it, even some cordiality.
