The Prurient Eye
This case concerning the Spencer Divorce is the second case I have seen reported where counsel have tried to argue for privacy within ancillary relief proceedings – and failed. The characteristic of both cases is that the argument was focussed on ousting the media from the hearing in the first place, rather than on restricting [...]
Ancillary to NOTHING
Where there is no lawful marriage there is no divorce and where there is no divorce there is nothing for ancillary relief to be ancillary to. The BBC reports on the High Court ruling recently in respect of a distant beach marriage that did not create legal ties. Did this poor lady never hear of Jerry [...]
Myerson v Myerson – Court of Appeal Dismiss Credit Crunch Appeal
Poor old Mr Myerson’s appeal has been dismissed. Aw…. Haven’t had time to read it – just skipped to the end to establish he lost. But I thought you’d like to know…
Recent Addition
The ‘recent additions’ feature on bailii.org is useful – it highlights not only recently promulgated decisions but also those that are perhaps a little older but have only recently been made available on bailii. So, for example, listed at the moment is the case of OS v DS (Oral Disclosure: Preliminary Hearing) [2004] in which Coleridge J [...]
Pre-Nups
Interesting post from Marilyn Stowe about Pre-Nups. She has beaten me to Christopher Sharp QC’s recent article in the FLJ, which I will now go and read…
D-I-V-O-R-C-E

The author of that article refers anecdotally to the fact some family law firms have ‘never been busier’, but does not quote any statistics showing a recent rise in divorce [...]
divorce on the up
Reported today (on our local radio station at least) was news that divorce is on the up again. anecdotally ancillary relief work is thin on the ground. much amusing speculation by random people off the streets about the reasons for the rates going up, largely ‘the econermy’ or ‘the credit crunch’…I’d be surprised if the [...]
Another take on family court openness
My Dad told me about this story in The Telegraph, where a millionaire divorcee fed up with inaccurate gossip about his allegedly stingy divorce settlement decided to set the record straight. Fair enough Mr Dean, I see where you’re coming from (Hope he feels better now he’s got that off his chest…).

What can I say about this game? Most definitely ‘No Comment’. (Thanks to Maryland Divorce Legal Crier for the link)
