I don’t laugh out loud when reading very often. I’ve just read about half a dozen of the most recent articles on this blog which I have just discovered and I have laughed hysterically all the way through (probably even through the bits that aren’t meant to be amusing). Its a bit like looking into my own future (only far more eloquent). I especially liked the chicken poo and the items up the nose.

two reasons for pointing you in the direction of this blog and specifically this post: firstly its a really interesting but tragic post about a 10 year old child bride taking herself off to court to obtain a divorce from the husband who repeatedly raped her (and an interesting blog generally from the looks of things). And on a lighter note because this is the blog of the other Lucy Reed, lawyer. Somehow I’m thinking her legal life is oh so much more Ally McBeal / LA Law etc etc than Edmonton county court on a wet Monday.

(yes I did find this whilst googling my own name, but in my defence its only because I’m bored sitting here being stood up by CharonQC)

Oh how true…This post from the Maryland Divorce Legal Crier blog is no less relevant for being from across the pond. It paints an all too familiar picture of the cringeworthy correspondence files I often get sent with my briefs. It makes me want to weep! Its easy enough to get drawn into a pointless bun fight but really guys – get a grip!!

I confess to not fully understanding this piece of gizmotastic wizardry, but I think its a kind of glorified super-feed with a catchy name. Whatever it is, the FamilyLawPipe appears to feature my face on it and is driving people to this blog. I must explore this newfangled pipery properly at some stage… In the meantime I have managed (with a small amount of assistance from the Geek on the sofa) to insert a borrowed Pipe thingybob on my sidebar for your delectation – thanks Nick Holmes.

Top 10 Law Blogs

Jacqui G has included me in her top ten law blogs (I will not call them blawgs – ick). Thanks Jacqui. So I guess I’d better join in and pass the buck to someone else…It’s been quite good fun finding some of these.

Here then is my top ten (in no particular order). Some are family related, others more generally legal. And some are ‘legal’ only by virtue of the fact that their author is a lawyer…:

bloody relations - a blog from another family barrister who I pass in assorted county courts from time to time…lots of interesting and funny information on her blog about family law and news.

Clarendon Family Law Team blog – much as it irks me to publicise another set of barrister’s chambers I say ‘good on ‘em’ for recognising the ‘POWER OF THE BLOG’ (star wars voice) as a marketing tool. Hadn’t seen this blog until trawling for my top ten today but its actually a really good resource which I will not hesitate to call upon in future. Thanks v much Clarendon.

Family Lore - topical, funny and useful family oriented stuff from John Bolch.

Divorce Solicitor - because lawyers are human beans too…

Ruthie’s Law - found this one today. Made me laugh.

Liadnan – a random assortment of mostly not-legal stuff from a rather charismatic sounding lawyer

Head of Legal - a legal blog with its beady eye firmly on the newspapers

FeministLawProfs – rather interesting blog, and a little different from the others in my list (but I gotta say - in answer to the post which considers the possibility that the phrase ‘what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander’ might be gendered – they’re all birds innit (excuse pun)? Or possibly the more appropriate response would be that in its application it is not gender specific even though (plainly) geese do come in different sexes. It is a phrase whose essential meaning is rooted in the idea of SAMENESS not DIFFERENCE…)
